Deakin Interconnect Footbridge

Initiated within the context of a broader building program at Deakin University, this project draws together the collective experience of BKK, Taylor Cullity Lethlean and the Australian artist, Robert Owen. The design explores the notion that ‘a journey is much more than the shortest distance between two points’. Designed to link the two main parts of the campus, currently bisected by a creek and recreation reserve, the bridge’s trajectory takes its cue from the locale. The structure weaves through the bushland setting on the east bank negotiating a path amongst the trees to the other side.
