Harbour Esplanade Masterplan

Harbour Esplanade, located in Melbourne’s Docklands, is the public space centrepiece of one of the largest urban renewal projects ever undertaken in Australia. Extending over 1.2km from Docklands Drive to the Yarra River, Harbour Esplanade will be transformed into a major visitor destination comprising a new harbourside park and boulevard. BKK Architects, in collaboration with Taylor Cullity Lethlean, were commissioned by Places Victoria (VicUrban) to develop a positioning strategy, Masterplan, and delivery model for the redevelopment of over 10 hectares of public realm. Building on a central theme of ‘Melbourne’s Creative Playground’ the Masterplan establishes a vision for a vibrant, playful, and activated waterfront that creates an open space corridor linking the Yarra River and Victoria Harbour.
