The Hargrave Andrew Library Retail Tenancy Precinct is a complete refurbishment of an existing ground floor retail tenancy and dining space to make way for two new retail spaces and a communal dining space, including a facade upgrade.
Briefed to be the ‘jewel in the crown’ of retail offerings on the Clayton Campus, the existing modernist facade informed strategies for activating the ground floor. Ample glazing showcases the retail offerings while feature brickwork referencing the hit and miss brick facade above provides integrated seating. Internally the dining space has been developed to operate in multiple modes of occupation providing the university with a flexible space that can be adapted to host events. A myriad of furniture typologies caters for long or short visits, for individuals or groups in formal and informal settings. A strong visual palette provides cohesion and unity within the space.
Careful consideration has been made to upgrading the thermal performance, increasing daylight and upgrading acoustic attenuation.
