Retreat House explores its role as a holiday residence and encourages a way of living quite different from urban routines. Living and dining areas are grouped together as an informal ‘mess hall’ while bedrooms are arranged in a linear cabin-like plan and are accessed individually from an external corridor defined by a deck. The separation of living and sleeping zones evokes childhood memories of holiday camps and caravans.
