Wedge Street Footbridge

A new pedestrian bridge for Werribee, a regional town 35km west of Melbourne. BKK’s proposal threads through the existing riparian landscape of the Werribee River, referencing delicate and minimal structures found in natural forms. The condition of the bridge is one of transition; from the hyper-activity of the Main Street, through a tree-framed corridor above the River, and resting finally, on a grassy embankment of open public park. The design delivers more than a functional response by providing a delightful journey that experiences the varying landscape and by also creating a stage for community based events and performances.
