Reflections from 3RRR's The Architects

After a thoroughly enjoyable and engaging six-week summer run of THE ARCHITECTS on 3RRR radio (102.7 FM), I’ve loved discussing how architecture has evolved and changed over the past 10 years – Simon Knott, BKK Director

We have looked at how Architecture has been shaped by gender, co-design, community engagement, radical environmental solutions, adaptive reuse, and better understanding and acknowledgment of our many Indigenous cultures. Architecture and design over the decade have significantly shifted to be more inclusive, more considerate, caring and place based. We further understand and recognise within the built environment, a history of place, most importantly recognising Australia’s Indigenous heritage and knowledge systems. Architecture is moving quickly towards more adaptive reuse of existing buildings; editing, renovating, recycling – a light touch!

Our conversations on THE ARCHITECTS examined architecture’s role in shaping culture and communities – themes that resonate deeply with our own practice at BKK. These discussions highlighted the importance of ongoing architectural discourse that is accessible and meaningful to all.

It was a great privilege to be back working with the team: Christine Phillips, Stuart Harrison and Rory Hyde. Feels like we never left!

Thank you to all our guests for these important conversations.

Thanks again to 3RRR for everything it does and for giving us the opportunity.
