Geelong Ring Road Amenities

This project elevates a freeway rest area and toilet block to the iconic.

It departs from pre-conceived ideas of what this type of facility should look like and instead is playful and different. The buildings bring a strong identity and sense of place to their site, providing a clear break from the repetition of the road.

The rest areas engage with multiple viewpoints and experiences, from the car passing at speed to the truck driver stopping to stretch their legs. The buildings’ glowing towers signal a point in the landscape to the distant traffic, a bit like a lighthouse perched on a peninsula.
