BKK Architects were amongst a select band of leading Australian practices invited to submit working project models for the Australian Pavilion Exhibition at the 2008 Venice Biennale. BKK’s model forms part of continuing research undertaken by the practice on the reinterpretation of Buckminster Fullers’ geodesic dome. The focus of our investigations has been into how complex geometries can delineate simple space. The resulting dynamic model is infinitely flexible and therefore offers endless possibilities for the ways in which we can occupy and experience space. By creating a parametric model that is outputted via a CADCAM router, the architectural form is never fixed but easily changeable and inherently versatile.
