In collaboration with artist Louise Paramor BKK developed a public art proposal as part of the ongoing Transforming Southbank Boulevard and Dodds St project being carried out with the City of Melbourne. The work, Wellspring, was to be distinctly civic, a place for people to gather in an urban conversation pit with programmable sound works, light and mist. The work talked to Southbank’s indigenous history as a gathering place focused around water, Robin Boyd’s demolished Southgate Fountain and Ron Robertson Swann’s Vault.
Project contributors included Shapeshift, Relume Consulting and Sonic State Design. BKK worked closely with the artist to develop costing options and detailing for constructability and procurements, as well as through an extensive consultation process with the City of Melbourne.
